Each pillar is comprised of focus areas that represent New Gold’s most material topics. Some focus areas have public-facing goals, while other have internal goals that will be used to steer our sustainability performance as best practices continue to evolve.

Fostering strong, trust-based relationships with host communities by engaging authentically and listening to people’s lived experiences is important to us. This foundation is essential for supporting meaningful community engagement and driving development that delivers lasting benefits for communities both today and in the future.
2030 Goal: New Gold’s community engagement activities foster trust-based relationships and maintain or improve our social license to operate and explore.
New Gold focuses on maintaining a responsible and transparent supply chain by ensuring ethical sourcing and environmental stewardship at every stage of production. We prioritize collaboration with suppliers who share their commitment to sustainability, human rights, and safety standards.
New Gold is committed to supporting sustainable community development in the areas where we operate through our formalized Community Investment Program. We believe that communities should see benefits from our operations both now and in the future. Our goal is to foster resilient community development by prioritizing initiatives that are led by community and address the community identified needs.
New Gold is committed to upholding the principles of Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) and fostering respectful, collaborative relationships with Indigenous communities and partners. The company respects the wisdom of traditional knowledge and seeks to engages in meaningful ways that create opportunities for social and economic benefits.
New Gold values the contributions of everyone we employ, seeing our differences as strengths, not weaknesses. We prioritize activities that support the recruitment and retention of women in mining and actively support Indigenous employment in the communities where we operate. We monitor and track statistics to ensure visibility of the diversity within our leadership teams across the organization.
2025 Goal: New Gold will establish a baseline for our current leadership diversity levels, conduct a benchmark exercise against peers inside and outside of our industry, and set targets for 2026 and beyond. Additionally, we will continue collaborating with the Indigenous communities where we operate to create employment opportunities within those communities.
